INSEDA’s local partner organisation SOHARD in Rajasthan, organised an introductory meeting on INFORSE South Asia on 14th September 2018, with local NGOs. Stakeholders from 30 NGOs participated in the meeting. Mr. Raymond Myles, Regional Coordinator of INFORSE South Asia spoke about the Network, guidelines and work plan were shared with the participants.
INSEDA on 7th June 2018, organised a District level round table at press club New Tehri. The meeting was graced by Mr. Shiv Charan Dwevedi, ADM of Tehri Garwal. 30 participants with stakeholders from local NGOs, Media, Panchayat members and government officials attended the half day meeting.
INSEDA on 9th March 2018, organised a meeting with the Block level officers at Chamba, Uttarakhand. 45 participants participated in the meeting. Stakeholders from local NGOs, Media, Panchayat members and government officials attended the half day meeting.
INSEDA organised a Side Event on 1st May 2018, and exhibition on, “Local Actions for Poverty Reduction & Village Development in NDCs & Paris Agreement Work Programme- East Africa and South Asia”, with INFORSE and Suswatch.
INSEDA co-organized the Side Event as one of three main organisers at COP23. Presented paper on Recommendations based on the EVD model for Building the Paris Rulebook. INSEDA participated and presented in a Side Event at the venue on the theme “Ecovillage Development in South Asia”. The topic of the presentation was “How can local solutions support energy access and improved livelihoods?” We also held a two week exhibition on low-cost, pro-poor, low-carbon climate resilient green technologies at the same venue. INSEDA organized a mini side event along with INFORSE at COP-22 called “Eco Village Development as a Low-Carbon Adaptation and Mitigation Strategy for Development in South Asia” with an international group of speakers from Integrated Development Association (Dumindu Herath from IDEA, Sri Lanka), Centre For Rural Technology/Nepal (Shovana Maharjan from CRT/N, Nepal), Grameen Shakti (Mohammad Mahmodul Hasan from Grameen Shakti, Bangladesh), Women’s Action For Development (Zareen Myles from WAFD, India), Climate Action Network South Asia (Santosh Patnaik from CANSA, India).

This was a roundtable Discussion organized by WAFD and INSEDA for 15 panchayat heads to brainstorm on how the Eco Village Model can be incorporated in their villages and also how it can fit within their village development objectives.
The First Eco Village Development (EVD) National Stakeholders’ Dialogue in India was held in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, on June 28th, 2016. The dialogue was jointly organised by INSEDA, WAFD, INFORSE South Asia and CANSA. It served as a multi-stakeholder forum to share the Eco Village Development concept with various practitioners and policymakers and to brainstorm on the effective mainstreaming of EVD into India and Indian states’ development agenda.The 45 participants were a mix of national climate negotiators, representatives of Indian ministries and the government, researchers, academics, civil society organisations, practitioners, environmental activists, private sector representatives, EVD beneficiaries and journalists. The main objective of this dialogue was to introduce the EVD concept as a model of a protean and integrated approach to development and climate change mitigation and adaptation in India. By involving the beneficiaries in the dialogue and inviting them to share their personal experiences with EVD, it was hoped to create a more user-input driven and consultative map for EVD scale up and concept refinement.By providing a space for a multidisciplinary group to have candid exchanges on environmental and developmental challenges, the dialogue mined some useful strategies for scaling up EVD and enhancing its effectiveness. INSEDA held an Earth Day Rally and Street Play in New Delhi with presentations on EVD and climate change impacts.
A dialogue on “Eco Village Development Model: Action for Transformative Change in Energy Access, Livelihoods and Food Security in Rural India” was jointly organized by Integrated Sustainable Energy and Ecological Development Association (INSEDA), Women’s Action For Development (WAFD) and Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA) in association with the International Network for Sustainable Energy South Asia on June 8th, 2017. This multi-stakeholder dialogue comprised of participants from the NGO, policy and private sector. Its objective was to facilitate candid, cross-sectoral conversations on actionable strategies that efficiently and effectively support climate resilient development in rural India, particularly in the sectors of energy access, food security and rural livelihoods and entrepreneurship.
A National Round Table on ” The Role of Women in Eco Village Development for Sustainability” was held on the 26th of July in New Delhi at the India International Centre. WAFD and INSEDA held the event in association with the Indian government think tank Indian Council For Food and Agriculture (ICFA). There were a total of 49 participants which included women government officials, women rural entrepreneurs, practitioners, leaders of industries and development workers. The event offered the participants the chance to discuss how to effectively mainstream gender within the development context for India.
